Joana Marinho

Self-taught — and the hand behind every Delicious Diamond. She turns cacao into an exact science and every bonbon into a jewel.

From engineering to cacao

An engineer’s precision

Joana Marinho trained as a civil engineer. She swapped structural calculus for cacao — but never the precision: she treats every bonbon like a project, measured, tested, with no room for chance.

A self-taught chocolatier, she began making chocolate as a parallel passion long before Delicious Diamonds. Over the years she has honed the craft in masterclasses with leading chefs — among them Chef Luís Amado and Chef Andrey Dubovik — adding top-tier technique to her discipline.

Two signatures

A flavour to your idea

Two things bring clients to Joana. First: give her a flavour idea — however unlikely — and she builds it from scratch until it is, simply, delicious.

Second: the finish. Her bonbons are among the most detailed and precisely executed you will ever see — each one hand-painted and filled, with the rigour of someone who accepts nothing less than perfect.
